Mahindra PIK-UP/ UTILITI

The Mahindra Single Cab and the Mahindra Double Cab never found an overseas market. The XD3P Diesel engine and BA10 Gearbox combination was not fuel efficient enough for the Indian commercial vehicle market.

So Mahindra decided take a gamble by fitting the fuel efficient MDI3000 Diesel engine and the easy to maintain 4-speed gear box.

The Mahindra PIK-UP and the Mahindra UTILITI were fitted with –

  • MDI3000 , 2.5 lit diesel engine
  • KMT90 ,   4-speed Gearbox
  • T18, Spicer , 2-speed Transferbox (4WD)
  • 114″ Wheelbase
  • 53” Wheel Track (Front 2WD) / 51” Wheel Track (Front 4WD)
  • 53” Wheel Track (Rear)

In 1999, these vehicles received a major upgrade known as the “NGCS“, a redesigned chasis and suspension system which made the vehicle easy to drive and maneuver. Apart from the chasis, the engine was upgraded to meet the INDIA 2000 emission norms.

  • 118.5″ Wheelbase (from 2006)
  • 57” Wheel Track (Front)
  • 53” Wheel Track (Rear)

These vehicles became a huge success in the Indian market and, even after 25 years, is selling in large numbers. The engines, transmissions and the cargo space has been continuously improved and upgraded to meet customer requirements and regulations.
